In 1992, GLOBIS started out with one marketing course in a small, rented classroom in the Shibuya district of Tokyo.
Twenty years have passed since our founding. Even now, GLOBIS continues to uphold its vision of fostering management ecosystems of People, Capital and Knowledge to bring creative change and innovation to society. We are continuously striving to make this vision a reality.
In the area of "People," we have nurtured and turned out business leaders who will carry the torch of creative change and innovation from the Graduate School of Management, GLOBIS University (MBA program) and GLOBIS Management School (non-degree). At the same time, we are helping companies to sharpen their management capabilities through GLOBIS Corporate Education (GCE).
In the area of "Capital," GLOBIS Capital Partners (GCP), a value-creating venture capital firm, offers comprehensive assistance in terms of management resources to aspiring start-ups. GCP's role is to shape the growth of these start-up businesses.
Finally, in the area of "Knowledge," we disseminate management expertise by publishing the GLOBIS MBA series of books and other management titles. Our online management magazine GLOBIS.JP is another source of management expertise.
From our beginnings in a single apartment room and a rented classroom, GLOBIS has developed into a Graduate School of Management that is certified to award an MBA degree based on accreditation in 2006 by Japan's Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology. In 2012, GLOBIS opened the Sendai Campus and the Fukuoka Campus (courses scheduled to begin in April 2013). Along with existing campuses in Tokyo, Osaka and Nagoya, GLOBIS now has a network of five campuses across Japan. The same year, GLOBIS also took successive steps forward with the establishment of subsidiaries in China and Singapore mainly to provide global training services for corporate customers, in addition to the launch of a full-time MBA program in English. In 2015, we established subsidiary also in Thailand. Our venture capital business, which started out with funds of 0.5 billion yen, now has approximately 50 billion yen in total funds under management.
GLOBIS aims to become the No.1 business school in Asia and the No.1 venture capital firm in Asia. To this end, GLOBIS will continue to take the initiative to bring creative change and innovation to society.
With each new day, we will remain a source of creative change and innovation for society, in Japan, the rest of Asia and around the world, driven by the unique GLOBIS way and vision.
Yoshito Hori, GLOBIS Chairman and CEO
